The License Plate Nonce (LPN) is an encrypted and signed file that identifies your device or Standard System implementation. The LPN contains the device ID (Serial Number) and the product key entered during setup. There is an additional fingerprint file generated and obtained during activation that must be present and checked every 60 days to function.
